SATURDAY, JUNE 19 FROM 10 AM - 1 PM PST
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
To be a great costume designer, you need to be a great character designer. In this workshop, Phillip Boutte Jr. will show you how to improve your skills doing both! Phil is excited to bring you his brand new workshop where he will demonstrate his process of designing costumes that add meaning and purpose to a character's design.
For this workshop, Phil has designed a special character that embodies empowerment and strength to celebrate the significance of Juneteenth (the day of his workshop). He will start at the beginning of the process with ideas and references, and walk students through to the final stage of bringing the character to a polish. Throughout the workshop, Phil will discuss how he does research to create authentic characters and explain the importance of adding details to your work that not only add visual interest, but also add functionality and meaning to the character’s design.
Join Phil in celebrating Juneteenth while learning how to elevate your design skills!
At the end of the workshop, students will receive references and assets that Phil used in the process of designing his character.
